[LIGHT NOVEL/NEW PROJECT] A Story About High School Girls Who Might Fall In Love Again; Vol.1 Ch. 1 Part 1 - Good Morning, Me. See You Again Tomorrow (First Encounter(?))
It’s half past
ten in the morning.
“I think i’ll
make it to that sheltered walkway”
Ah....! I put
out a sigh of relief.
I then put my
phone in the pocket and stopped running and started walking.
The sound of
the water, which had been bouncing around under my feet, slowed down to little
splashes as I walked. The sound of the falling rainwater on my umbrella did not
slow down, but the sound of the water on my feet has decreased significantly that
it managed to calm me down a little.
This is when
you can understand your surroundings better.
An old man with
a bent back, walking slowly with a tattered black umbrella in his hand, a boy
in yellow raincoat, a mother holding a bright green umbrella and smiling
happily, a university student in a jersey suit walking quickly with a blue
umbrella in his hand, stroking her fluffy hair with a gloomy look on her face.
If I had kept
running, I would have blended in with the background.
I have seen
many kinds of people today. Old lady, childrens, fellow students.
I like to think
myself as a fly. Although currently i’m wearing my school uniform outside even
though it's Sunday, but other than that, I'm just a normal high school girl
with no special characteristics. In movies and dramas, I would be regarded as an
extra. In manga and anime, I would be regarded as a mob character.
If I walk
through the rain without an umbrella right now, I would stand out from the rest
and upgrade myself into a main character. But, it would be strange anyway if
you don't bring an umbrella in the middle of the rainy season like June.
It's strange, but such strange things, unusual things, are the role
of the main character of the story.
I've been thinking about it. I've been thinking about it for a
while now. I really am a normal person.
But, I don't mind being normal at all.
Sixteen years. I've only lived that long, but I’ve enjoyed having a
normal family, going to school, having friends, and experiencing club
activities. I'm not sure if I'll be able to pass the next exam, though. I’m
worried whether I will be able to pass the next exam, but on the contrary, I
don’t have to worry about anything else, so I enjoy every day as usual. This is
the happiest I will ever be.
Recently, I've been thinking that maybe being normal is the
happiest thing in the world. The answer to that is, yeah, I'm totally fine
being normal. I really am.
As I walked, thinking about this and that, I passed by a park. A
very ordinary park with a slide, a sandbox, a pavilion, and a small restroom. There
was nothing special about the park, so let's just get quickly past it.
.....
“...Ah!...”
I wondered if it was a child. I couldn't help but look toward the
park to find where the sound came from.
Under a dimly lit pavilion, a transparent umbrella was in bloom,
and on the other side of it, lies the girl who made it bloom.
-----
I took a slow
step out of the pavilion and into the rainy world and immediately stopped. I
stopped and looked up at the sky. The umbrella that bloomed, pointing to the
ground, of course, wet with rain
Soaking myself
up without caring, I hold my left hand up to the gray sky. As if trying to grab
something, the hand eventually scratched the sky. Again and again and again.
“Hey, what are
you trying to grab with your hand?”
Suddenly, our
eyes met.
It's hard to
say for sure, because of the distance, but I'm sure the girl looked at me.
For a moment,
it was as if time stopped, just for a moment, but it felt like that.
I hurriedly
dropped my gaze, took my umbrella, and blocked the girl's gaze with it.
It's not that I
don't like it. It's not that I was staring at her.
I felt awkward
when she noticed that I was staring at her.
My body was
just moving on its own.
Sigh....
The sound of
raindrops on the umbrella. That's all I could hear.
---
..... Uhh!
*splash* *splash* *splash*
The sound of puddles is coming closer.
It must be a girl's footsteps
What am I supposed to do? What am I supposed to do?!
While I was puzzled by my own emotions, the wind blew past me. The
sound of the splashing faded into the distance, then it disappeared completely I
lifted my umbrella and saw that I was the only one standing in front of the
park.
The girl was nowhere to be seen.
I exhaled, perhaps I had been holding my breath all this time.
(...fyuhhh....)
I put my hand on my chest and took a few deep breaths and thought
that heroes in stories must’ve felt like this on their first time, and I'm sure
the main character of my story will be a girl like that.
I don't know what it is, but I think it has some kind of power.
Samurai
I could only come up with one word
I'm not sure. And I was drawn to and overwhelmed by the power of
the girl who is probably gonna be the main character of my story
I am an ordinary girl who has just become a main character.
The wind again,
a damp, lukewarm June breeze, unlike the one that had just passed by.
"Oh...”
I hurriedly
pulled my phone out of my pocket and looked at it: "Four minutes left,
...... three minutes! Whaa, why did this happen!!” I'm running as fast
as I can with my heart still thumping like crazy because of that earlier
incident.
